The Penn Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology: Five galleries and ceramics lab complete phase 1 of an ongoing renovation. The SAA-designed project provided all new climate control, new lighting, and all new systems in less than nine months, from start of design to final completion. Iraq's Ancient Past: Rediscovering Ur's Royal Cemetery, and Battleground: War Rugs of Afghanistan launched in renovated galleries. Read more about it on the Museum's blog.The newly renovated and expanded Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College was visited by almost 1,500 people over Commencement at the end of May. The galleries in the Cass Gilbert building and Venturi/Scott Brown wing have been fully renovated, with new laylights, lighting, and systems. Excavation below the galleries have expanded collections storage capacity by more than 50% and accommodated a new, highly efficient climate control system. LEED Gold is anticipated. During the recent AIC (American Institute for Conservation) Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, two private tours of The Barnes Foundation project by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects (currently in construction) were given by Bill McDowell and Barbara Buckley of the Barnes Foundation.
